Description
Lysekil is a fantastic place to dive close to Gullmarsfjorden.
Gullmarsfjorden is 25 km long and 1-3 m wide and is the largest of Bohuslän's fjords, Gullmarsfjorden is Sweden's only threshold fjord. The greatest depth is about 120 meters and is 10 km from the estuary, while the threshold depth is about 45 meters. The water exchange with the Skagerrak over the estuary threshold has contributed to the emergence of a rich and partly unique marine wildlife.
Nowhere else can you get such different dives in one place as inside and outside the threshold fjord Gullmarn. The marine life in the fjord is very different from that outside. At as shallow a depth of 20 meters, you can find aquatic life that is usually found at 60 meters down in the ocean. There are a very large number of dive sites for all sorst diving. Eelgrass beds, wall dives, rock crevices, cairns, ravines and plateaus are some of these.
Information about the site
Central in Lysekil we can find the dive site Släggö, one of the west coast's most visited dive sites. No matter when in the day or when in the year you come here, there are almost always divers in the water. The dive site is incredibly practical and there is good parking, good with benches and is very easy to navigate.
